When it came to creating the QControl Toolkit the design went through several iterations before arriving at what is published today. One of the first decisions that was made was where to store the reference to the control you were extending?

One drawback I saw with XControls is that any Property or Method of the control in the Facade had to be reprogrammed to expose it in the XControl.

Let’s face it XControls filled a niche but were awful to create and work with in anything but the simplest programs.
